Alternative Termite Shot

Week 1-8 Work

Every week so far except for one or two. We have drawn a number of poses over the weeks from 2 female models. Also drawn some static objects using different alternative techniques.

This Cityscape, from my previous posts. Were the initial foundations to start up the Cityscape mini project. By using card onto charcoal, white chalk, emulsion white paint and graphite.

This was our first attempt with a new model. But instead of pencils and pens, we had brushes and I think acrylics mixed with water. White at first to a colour then a blend and to be honest the orange was definitely a difficult one to use.

The following week was about proportions, an area I needed to brush up on. Using a series of grids to map out roughly each part of the model to draw. The results are a visible improvement.

Another tool we have been using well made. A pallette like knife made from a stick of plastic and cut out from a coke can. Among the images below were the different ways to put black ink on the paper. And will be using it again for next week’s lesson in conjunction with the poem mini project.

This week was to do portraits with our peers. I drew Christian and was praised how much of a likeness I got with his hair. Felt a bit disappointed that I couldn’t get the eyes and nose sizes corrected but I thought it was time we did work on the facial features than just the overall body. Again this was about proportions, First we drew each other faces from a post-it-note to A4 to A3.
